World Slasher Cup 1 2020 kicks off

This year’s much awaited World Slasher Cup officially opened on January 20, 2020 with 96 exciting match-ups of the best cock fighters from around the world.

The first of the two-day elimination rounds thrilled cockfighting enthusiasts at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for what is regarded as the world’s most prestigious derby.

Over 200 of the top local and foreign fighters today will battle out this week to claim the title from last year’s World Slasher Cup 2 winners Nene Araneta, Frank Berin, Rey Canedo, and Jun Durano. Foreign participants are raring to take the cup away from the crop of Filipinos who recently dominate the WSC.

Fighters who will survive the 2-cock elimination rounds on January 20 and 21 will enter the two-day 3-cock semi-finals on January 22 and 23 to determine those who will qualify for the 4-cock pre-finals on January 25.

This year’s edition pays tribute to the legendary gamefowl breeder Ray Alexander, who has been instrumental in the growth of the WSC. The first day clash-of-champions was graced with the presence of Rayandra Seville Alexander, the daughter of Ray Alexander, who provided a brief message to the delighted spectators in the Big Dome.

The all-important finals will kick off on January 26 to determine who will reign supreme in this year’s thrilling WSC edition.

Fans who wish to witness the action live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum may get their tickets at Ticketnet or at www.worldslashercup.ph.
